NYABING GOVERNMENT (GOVY) STOCK AND EMERGENCY WATER SUPPLY DAM – VANDALISM

The New Year for 2021 should be a fresh start and for people to be enjoying time off in January with family and friends.

Unfortunately, I have been advised by shire staff of the disgraceful act where someone has forced the locked gate valve that supplies water to the Govy Dam. This has caused the dam to overflow during the night and waste valuable water at a time of water shortages. We don’t need this wanton disregard and senseless waste that has seen at least 300KL go down the drain.

We are fortunate that the water will make its way down to a community dam where what remains can be pumped back into the shires recreation dam but, still no excuse!

We are a trusting community with little or no crime and we want this to continue and don’t want to have to install cameras or restrict access for the genuine users.

We have now had to upgrade the locks and will check more often but we seek your cooperation that if you know or see anything suspicious, report it to the Police or the Shire 9829 1051.
